Open Access Policy

Journal of Education, Psychology and Inclusion (JEPI) is a peer-reviewed, open access, online-only journal. The journal is committed to the immediate and free availability of scholarly research in order to support the widest possible dissemination, visibility, and responsible use of academic knowledge in education, psychology, and inclusive education. All content published by JEPI is made openly available online without subscription barriers, access charges, or embargo periods. Readers may access the full text of published articles immediately upon publication. This policy is intended to reflect widely recognized open-access principles and best-practice expectations in scholarly publishing.

JEPI understands open access in line with established international practice: published scholarly work should be freely available online and usable for lawful scholarly purposes, including reading, downloading, copying, distributing, linking, indexing, and computational processing, subject to the terms of the applicable license. The journal therefore makes its published content openly accessible on its website on a continuous basis and supports the discoverability of its articles through indexing, linking, and other legitimate scholarly uses.

Authors retain copyright in their work. By publishing in JEPI, authors grant the journal the non-exclusive right of first publication and the non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, preserve, and identify the Version of Record as the authoritative published version in the journal. JEPI recommends this author-rights model because it is more consistent with current open-access best practice than restrictive copyright transfer arrangements.

Unless otherwise stated for specific third-party material, articles published in JEPI are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Under this license, users may share and adapt the material for any lawful purpose, provided appropriate credit is given to the author(s) and the journal, a link to the license is provided, and any changes made are indicated. The applicable license will be displayed clearly on each published article and on the journal website.

The terms of the journal’s copyright and licensing arrangements shall be stated transparently and shall not contradict the open-access rights granted to users under the applicable license. JEPI will not describe openly published content as “all rights reserved,” and any exceptions relating to third-party copyrighted material reproduced with permission will be identified clearly in the article text, figure legends, credits, or acknowledgements as appropriate.

JEPI supports responsible author self-archiving and dissemination. Authors may deposit and share the published version of their article, and where relevant the accepted manuscript, in institutional repositories, subject repositories, personal websites, or academic-profile platforms, provided that full bibliographic details are supplied and the journal is acknowledged as the place of first publication. Where funder requirements apply, authors should inform the journal at submission so that licensing and rights statements can be handled appropriately.

Information on any author-facing charges must be stated transparently on the journal website. If JEPI does not charge submission fees, editorial processing charges, article processing charges, page charges, or colour charges, this should be stated explicitly. If any such charges apply, the amount, currency, stage at which the fee is charged, and any waiver or reduction policy should be displayed clearly and prominently. This is important not only for author transparency but also for alignment with widely used journal-quality criteria.

JEPI is committed to maintaining open access in a manner consistent with scholarly integrity, editorial independence, and responsible publishing practice. The journal’s Open Access Policy should be read together with its policies on peer review, publication ethics, plagiarism, competing interests, copyright and licensing, archiving, and privacy. The journal may update this policy from time to time in order to remain aligned with recognized developments in open-access publishing and editorial best practice.
